Let's Start a Blog!

Let’s start a blog in the middle of quarantine….Sounds like a good plan right?

For a while now I have heard from a number of friends and colleagues that I should start a blog to document and share our trips, recipes, dinner menus, etc….So, with all the spare time I have had I figure why not start it now? So here I am, starting a blog on the heels of a global pandemic.

So, I mentioned that for a while I have been asked to start a blog, but I honestly have never been able to find the time. Also, I mean do we really need another blog? This has been a question that I have wrestled with a lot in the past months, but I decided that you know what, why not? This world might not need another blog, but it just might! So, with everything slowing down so much lately I decided to jump on this opportunity and get it started!

We recently went to Lansing, North Carolina and hiked at Grayson Highlands State Park and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend hiking here if you can.

For those of you reading this who don’t know me, here is a bit about myself. I am an Interior Designer, Entrepreneur and am a huge advocate for living a healthy and active life. You could say I have always had a love for design and food since I was young. Growing up I would spend hours upon hours organizing, ensuring everything was in just the right spot. You could also find me in the kitchen wanting to help out and asking if I could put together my own dinner menu. The entrepreneur came much later in life, however I have always been a doer and a high achiever. As a child I would sell juice on the front lawn, pick bouquets of flowers to try and sell them to our neighbors and beg to help in the kitchen, thinking that one day I would be a chef! That didn’t turn out exactly as expected, however I fell in love with Interior Design and the ability to create space for people that was not only beautiful, but functional and efficient. It was not until I met my husband that the idea of being an entrepreneur crossed my mind.

I know I don’t look thrilled in this picture, but I told you I used to sit in the front yard and sell juice.

You see, Colby (my husband) has never worked for anyone, except for this one summer in high school. Ever since then he decided he wanted to be his own boss. And he has! Which is something I truly admire. I have never met someone so determined and set on never working for anyone as Colby. He really opened my eyes to the opportunities that being an entrepreneur has! I will have to do a whole post on my road to being an entrepreneur later…The one thing that Colby said to me that solidified my decision to try this entrepreneurial thing out was when he said, “Babe, the worst thing that could happen is that you suck and you have to go get another job. But, what if you succeed?” That did it for me. The next week I turned in my notice and as they say, “the rest is history”.

Colby has always been one for adventure and someone who never turns down the opportunity to travel. When we met this was something that really drew me to him. His love for travel and adventure captivated me and has now become apart of who we are.

Glacier National Park is by far one of my all time favorite trips. I have had this picture as my desktop since we went! The landscapes there are stunning!

After a few initial dates Colby asked if I would go camping for the weekend to meet some of his college friends. Because, that is totally what you do after going on a couple dates with someone right? I said yes, and to this day some of those college friends are still the dearest friends we have.

All of this to say that Colby has pushed me to be open to new adventures every day. Hence this blog… I want to share with you some of our story in hopes that it will encourage you to try new things, go on more adventures and live a better healthier life.

So I hope you enjoy a little piece of our life, The Lambert Life!

I am afraid of heights! This has been a constant struggle for me on many trips, but I keep pushing and continue to get more comfortable with heights. This hike though, I was still a bit unsure.
